What is Fundamentals of Islamic Banking and Finance?
This certification delivers an introduction to the philosophy of Islamic banking and finance and offers an overview of the financial services industry. Developed in conjunction with the Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance (BIBF), with industry experts and practitioners, it is ideal for those wishing to start a career in Islamic banking and finance, or for those wishing to further their studies and research related to this field.
It covers the key Islamic banking and finance principles and concepts including Islamic economics and its worldview, infrastructure and history, Islamic business ethics, and Sharia’a and Fiqh principles.

80 hours of study is required for this exam. You can choose to self-study for the exam using the CISI workbook or have formal training with one of our Accredited Training Partners (ATP). To find an ATP near you visit, cisi.org/atp

The CISI’s workbook policy requires, where available, the most up-to-date book to be purchased when booking an exam, including by an ATP on your behalf. This applies to all candidates sitting CISI exams in the UK (including Northern Ireland, Guernsey, Jersey and Isle of Man). Candidates sitting CISI exams outside of the UK will receive the most up-to-date workbook for that subject in PDF format and this is included in the international exam price.

Fundamentals of Islamic Banking & Finance is recognised by Ofqual as the level 2 Award in fundamentals of Islamic Banking & Finance. This qualifications is regulated by Ofqual as a level 2 qualification on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF). Success in this qualification carries with it 8 QCF credits. Assessment
The qualification is completed by passing a one hour exam of 30 multiple-choice questions. The exam
is delivered by Computer Based Testing (CBT). A worldwide network of test centres is available, ensuring flexible scheduling, instant results and ease of completing the exam on screen. Visit cisi.org/cbt to find your nearest venue.
